And you haven't updated in HOW long?

Um, yes... I think it's time to beat Erin with a shovel for her lengthy departure from the site, yes? Not that I think anyone reads this, but if someone did, well, they might have thought I'd abandoned them, and damn, that would be not nice, yes?

... that said, I really have nothing to say. Spock's doing well, he's quite active and like three and a half feet or so... so yeah.

um, I'm leaving before I make a bigger silly of myself. toodles :)

Nightwish

The concert was bloody amazing.

I'm just going to say, read my sister's blog if you want a full summary, because she did it great justice and has many sweet pictures. I just want to say it was, in the words of Marco 'fucking amazing'. Even the band was blown away about how good the show went. It was a thing of beauty, it really was.

... ow. And now I have whiplash...

I can't stop laughing and as a result just woke up the girl I'm babysitting...

OMG. I'm flabbergasted and that much more in love with our dear JKR ---> http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/books/10/20/harry.potter.ap/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

I especially love the 'omg, the fan fiction' line in there ^^

if she can't out SB/RL, good enough with this, ne?

lol, sorry, I ship, but I care.

-----------

ANOTHER TOPIC ENTIRELY
I met the mayor in his office on Wednesday. I got an impromptu tour with the city council rep, and shook lot's of important politicians' hands and got really disappointed by how creepy some of them were. They do a good enough job with the city, but some of them are practically 'slimy' the way the smile at you. Some of them I think just like power; it's sad in it's own way. I just need to keep faith I suppose; I'm a bit cynical about certain things I guess...

But the saint paul city hall is INCREDIBLE. It's all polished brass, white and black marble, and loads of mirrors. seriously, the main hall looks very, VERY similar to the way the ministry of magic was portrayed in the most recent HP movie (omg, there he his again. That harry...). If you get a chance to see it, go, it's intimidating and marvelously creepy and impressive.

I got wanded ^^ (That one WASN'T a HP reference at all. I had to get wanded to make sure I wasn't carrying a gun, I'm not sure why, but I did ^^;)

Ha well, expect to see me go slowly crazy(er) as the week goes by. yay!

Hellos and Apologies

Sorry I didn't respond to like, anything anyone posted like ever for the past two weeks. I loose.

I really loose because I just discovered that one of my top two favourite groups (it and Nightwish are always jostling for first) just lost their drummer. The site said that Steve Hewitt split for 'personal and musical differences', but everything the front man Brian Molko said was very sweet albeit sad seeing as They lost their drummer of eleven years! I think Steve just moved on... and I'll have to get over it. But I think I deserve a few minutes of sadness.

DR. WHO was fantastic last night. The Doctor is such an amazing character; he's so wonderful and so pure hearted that everyone loves him, but he's so different and so far removed from everyone else that he can't ever seem to love anyone back (romantically that is). Martha Jones (who replaced the character of Rose just this year), left last night much to my dismay. She was more intelligent than Rose, more interesting, and the character realized last night that she had to get out of her life traveling with the doctor lest she too waste away loving a man who couldn't look at her twice.
I want to give the Doctor a hug; I know he's a fictional character, but god, my heart goes out to him.

Keep Burma Myanmar in your hearts you guys! Sorry for being so sporadically present around here ^^;

I'm... irritated. Every time I pick up a book now, I'm picking through the tiny details and looking for subtext and subplot and interpretation and metaphor and hidden agenda and I can't enjoy my books the way I used to.

It's just frustrating, seeing as I know some books should be read like that, but others shouldn't, and I'm finding it difficult to enjoy either anymore.

... I need to devolve in my reading style, just for a little bit. Maybe I can fall back into love with literature.

(PS, please read 'The Ballad of Reading Gaol' by Oscar Wilde. Elenbarathi unwittingly made me go and read it, and it is beautiful and tortured and poetic and epic and almost everything I could ever want out of a poem.)

I saw a guy on a bicycle today...

... but that wasn't the impressive part. No, while the bicycle was rather antiquated and thus very unique and nice to look at, the fact that it was being ridden was not the interesting bit. The man who was riding it was a very nice looking man of about sixty with a nice white beard and smiling brown eyes who called out from behind me that he was coming up on my left, and thus I danced out of the way and off the sidewalk. However, while curious, none of that was the really impressive bit.

No, that bit was the fact that this nice looking older man was riding perfectly well and at a fairly good speed while holding a full mug of coffee in his right hand. Not a travel mug either, but a rather well-loved ceramic mug with a nice picture of Tony the Tiger on it. I thought for sure he was going to spill, but he rode along as if it were the most normal thing in the world, cruising down the sidewalk while enjoying a steaming mug of (black) coffee.

How? How, I ask myself, is such a thing accomplished? I, who can barely stay upright with both hands on the handles, am in awe of this man. If I meet him again, I will shake his hand, ask for his autograph, and tell him just how wonderful he is.

I mean, HOW? He must be a holy man; that's the only conclusion I can draw, and I've been thinking about it ever since I passed him whilst walking home about five hours ago.

I'm not joking either; it really floored me. It was something that made me stand back and think a great many deep thoughts that one tends to think when one has a life changing experience.

Whenever I see a cup of coffee from now on, or a nice old man on a bike, I will think of this smiling old man on his bike with his coffee. My life has honestly changed, even if it is in a very small way.

I'm grateful to have met him, even if 'met' only means I twirled (yes, I did twirl) off the sidewalk to get out of the way of his shiny bicycle and his steaming cup of coffee.

Oh No!

Oh no! Guess who's iPod broke? Guess who had to go the apple store to get it fixed? Guess who now has a shiney new iPod because she had a problem no one at the genius bar had ever seen before?

If you answered 'you' to any one of those questions, congratulations and here's a virtual cookie!
(btw, what kind of snotty company calls their help desk the 'genius bar'? It's kind of funny, and kind of really obnoxious.)

SPAMalot was SPAMtacular! I actually saw Mr. REC there (with I believe his wife...? Mr. REC with a wife is just an odd concept for me. Maybe it wasn't his wife, maybe it was his sister or something. Or maybe it was a hologram...) Anyways It was a shock to see him there by a good sort of shock. We chatted during intermission, and then we watched the 'gay gay gay' Lancelot thing and it was one of the most hysterical things I've seen in a long time.

Any musical with cod pieces like that gets an A+ in my book.

Lol, and they even got the fish slapping dance in there. The fish slapping dance! this thing---> <lj-embed id="2" />

Buckets yo, that the best Monty Python sketch of all time (in my humble oppinion) and it has NOTHING to do with the Holy Grail movie, and yet, They got it in there! I almost died I laughed so hard when the fish were whipped out, and it was only in the first five minutes!

You have to see it. It's boats of fun. Big boats of fun!

Now for something completely different; it was Alena's birthday on saturday!
We went to the Picasso and American art exhibit at the Walker and had truckloads of fun trying to decipher plastic chairs with tissue boxes and multiplying 16 by 46 + some odd remainder in our heads. Really, it was totally awesome. I'm not even a big picasso fan, but there was Pollock and Bruce Connor and lots of awesome pieces I hadn't expected. It was wonderful.

And being the frightening little products of Mike and Kevin we all were (we being myself, my sister, and Alena) We all brought along notebooks thinking along the lines of "Well, we did it at MIA..."

Anyways, yes.
Placebo

Placebo; they're nuts. I've been listening to them quite a bit lately.
They hail from the UK, and for me that's always interesting (in a good sort-of way)...

---> http://www.placeboworld.co.uk/

... I guess that's all.

Snakes etc. (and the Belated Lamentation of the Passing of MITY)

HI!

Ugh, I'm becoming disgustingly sporadic and unreliable on this site, aren't I? Sorry y'all (well, it's not like my life is all that enthralling anyway, eh?)

Well, big news on the Holt/Hill front however:
I HAVE A SNAKE!

He's a lovely little bugger at just under two feet. He's a Ball Python who's almost 1/2 a year old, and was christianed on the first of July, SPOCK ROMEO CORLEONE.

I have half a mind to print off a blank birth certificate form and make him a mock document...

Anyways with the name... don't ask. It's better that you don't I think. It's oddly suiting for the little guy though...

He'll grow to be about five feet long in a few years and will live till he's between thirty and fifty (long winded little bastard).

So everyone, come to my house and we can play with the snake!

...

Anyways, call me late on the update, but MITY's been over for a couple weeks and I'm still feeling a bit of a let down. I think I'll go visit Mike in the next couple of days (we have to exchange Stargate seasons anyways).

...

Alack everyone, take care of yourselves everyone! I love you all (despite my dwindling presence here). Be good to yourselves!

Yell-oh!

Hello my dearest amigos and distantest acquaintences ^^ School is out and thank the heavens for it. Too bad it's straight into two mind-numbing weeks of drivers ed *faints*

Ah well, could be far worse, eh?

Alright, my most amusing stories:

1) I saw a random guy who decided to direct traffic in a kilt for no apparent reason. Then I watched a profanity saturated argument between him and a swearing undercover cop. Now tell me the last time that that's happened to you :?

2) I saw a lost looking guy in full bike rider's gear standing on one foot in a Barnes and Noble surrounded by a small pile of maps he'd pulled off a shelf.

3) I stood in a pile of school supplies/ clothes/ old food up to my knees.

4) I found Pirate!Metal that includes a song Nancy the Barwench and a Wizard!Rock song entitled 'Harry and Draco secretely want to snog'.

5) I recieved student of the month twice in one moneth (and subsequently became the speech team captain).

6) I got followed by herd of Dinosaurs.

(all of these are true btw. I'm not making any of this up!)

7) I realized I'd fallen in love
(7b) and subsequently felt very awkward for it

8) I accidentally became the stalker for a guy I thought looked like Emppu from Nightwish. I saw him once and he looked at me funny because I was staring and thought 'well that was embarassing. Thank heaven's I'll never see him again!' and a week later saw him (in the same outfit) walk out of his house and into the bar I was at. He caught sight of me again and I thought 'I'm not following you! Really! And it's not actually creepy that I know where you live now!'

9) I went to my first genuine comic book store.

10) I decided to tell all of you this and here I am now, listening to pirate metal and writing nonsense ^^

Much ecclectic comments

I hate spring.

---

Okay, Oedipus is messed up. That man had more issues that all of America combined, and I had to play him for our english class reading. Wow. Yelling (yes, yelling) about how you slept with your mom is odd, especially in a class where half the people are going 'whaaaaat? I still don't geeeeet it.'

Oh yes, the humor, it fills me.

---

LEWIS! I was told you were playing Hamlet. Are you playing Hamlet? Someone else told me it was not hamlet, but Shakespeare. Are you playing Shakespeare?! And if you are playing anybody at all, can I get a copy of that production!?

That is all.

---

It was MITY spring session yesterday at Sally's house. There as a small group of us and we frolicked and gossiped and hugged because it was wonderful and we love each other like the neo-hippies we are.

---

Hugs are awkward. Not with everybody, but with a lot of people; you don't know when to let go and when to hold tighter and when to back off...
I realized that as i was hugging a former teacher.

Hugs are VERY awkward. Someone must make a hug rule book, and then hugs will be i controled, regulated, manner that leaves the awkwardness aside.
...
but then again, the awkwardness is what makes it fun ;)

Guess what y'all? I got my first trophy for speechiness! That's right crazies, I got first place at the McGregor Invitational tournament in the Original Oratory category! I have my speech on the ancient Hebrew demoness Lilith, not only the firstwoman to walk the earth, even beefore Eve, but also the first Feminist.

I got a 1-99 you guys, a 1-99! That's the best you can get! I also got a 2-97 and 1-98 and I was supremely happy about it all.

My sister did really well too, but she was in one of the largest categoriesand ended up getting screwed over for her actual score.

My team overall got third place in the entire tournament, and we only had seven people competing (to give you a frame of reference, the second and first place teams had between twenty and twenty five competitors) !

It was a great weekend; we got a hotel room, we swam, we ate Pizza, we did tarrot and we talked politics. It was very cool. Not to mention hours of David Sedaris on the three hour drive there and the three hour drive back.

absolutely wicked you guys. Absolutely wicked.

Pan's Labyrinth

... just... WOW.

It's totally wicked on so many levels. Pan is so awesome, and the pale man is creepy beyond comparison.

I don't want to say much, because I want people to see it for themselves, but it's really cool. It's not the best movie I've ever scene (unlike how a lot of reviewers have been billing it) but is most definitely brilliant.

It's all in subtitles, so I really want to see it again because I think you miss things when you're constantly reading and not so much actually looking at what's going on, but it's still nice that it was in Spanish because it gave be a chance to work on my comprehension ;) I got most of the words actually, I was kind of proud of myself!

Anyways, there is some semi-graphic torture that's really difficult to watch, and there's quite a bit of blood, so basically, if you're particularly squeemish, not a good movie for you;)

Otherwise, high tail it over to your local indie film theatre (I saw it at the uptown) and get in line early, becuase (at least where I was) the wait was massive.

See ya!

MITY!

I GOT MY MITY FORM!

It's a party at the Holt household because guess what? The twins have their MITY forms!!! w0000000000t!!!!! Oh yeah, I'm über happy ^^
I talked with Mike and Kevin about it and they're all like 'yeah! Rock on.' and it's totally groovy.

I have a couple of friends who have decided to try and do it also... the Mity group may get the additions of another Twin (Kaia) and miss Man-Onion (Laura) and the lovely Kate. Then again, people are always telling me their going to do MITY and then they don't... who knows? I'm going to have funeither way!

Heh, I'm seeing Pan's Labyrinth today too. I am so excited about it. It's playing at the Landmark and I've never been so happy about a movie before in my life! (except maybe the second and third LoTR movies and the fourth Harr Potter... and AVP... Okay, maybe not the most excited I've ever been, but I'm pretty damned excited ;) )

I'm working on a new story too... I may end up posting drabble about it here, but I'm still trying to figure that out. I'm having fun with it really, it's one of my favourite ideas yet.

Tiers: The tiers of city are classified by how recently they’ve been formed. Every five years, a new tier is considered complete and will be entitled as 'first tier' and every other tier will grow down one designation point from there.
People inhabit the first, second, third, and sometimes the fourth tiers of city ( depending on how populated that sector is). The oldest tier is currently the eighteenth and will become the nineteenth in two years. No one lives that far down the tier level, everything beneath eighth is considered ghost town and everything between fifth and eighth is only for the poor man.

The inhabitants: All inhabitants are humans along with their ‘curiosities’, which are like their pets. These curiosities can range from anything from a typically small, four legged, furry creature, to one of the 'moths'.

Moths: A moth is our central subject; all moths are viewed as a lower life form to 'city' subjects, but they are in fact a 'primitive' culture of humans who live in the prairies, forests, and river/ ocean caves that surround the expanding city. They tend to wear little or no clothing and all have small wings on their back that don't allow them to full out fly, but to glide. Moths are extremely in tune with nature; they live and think simply, and move peacefully around city, avoiding it but not fearing it.
Moths are often captured and sold as curiosities to the richest of the cities inhabitants; it is said that the current tier queen owns a menagerie of more than twenty.

The tier queen: One physically beautiful woman is selected every five years as the tier queen, seemingly with no rhyme or reason. The new woman is engulfed by spindle spiders and carried away. She will emerge several days later and rise to take the position away from the old tier queen, who will be ignored as she is dragged away screaming by the spindle spiders.

Spindle Spiders: Not really inhabitants of city seeing as they are more commonly considered to be just an extension of city. They cannot pass city limits, and they permeate throughout city, even through the abandoned tiers.
They carry out menial tasks essential to the inner workings of city, sometimes for seemingly no reason at all. They are also the only workings of any sort of law enforcement. This is a sticky net though, for there is no set list of laws, and at any time without any explanation, a spindle spider may take away any citizen.
Spindle spiders also handle the dead. They take away all deceased within one half hour of their passing and the body will never be seen again.
All Spindle spider movement occurs in dark, sewer like tunnels beneath the surface of city. These tunnels have black circular openings that are scattered throughout city. These circles will not open for anyone but a spindle spider, but will open immediately whenever a spindle spider comes near.
Spindle spiders have eight legs and round bodies. Spindle spiders are metal, spindles spiders range in color from pale silver to black. Spindle spiders are not to be resisted.

FAQ:
1A. How does city grow?
1Q. It sends down 'bones' deep within the earth. These bones are broken remnants of older parts of city. (It is rumored that city collapses in on itself in the center and fills it's gaps with human bones.)
When ‘city’’s bones (pipes and struts and foundations etc.) have burrowed deep enough, they devour the earth and rip raw materials from the crust and sometimes even the mantle to thrust up towers around the cities edges. (this is why there is a standard five year waiting period for tiers to grow, for humans can't be sure when and where city will send up a new tower).
When city is done sending up towers for a time, city will create ‘skin’ of an outer layer of brick or glass or iron or clay or whatever resources are available to form a suitable cover. This is called ‘web’, and the bones filter up the proper materials, which then will jump between towers and cover them evenly.
City will hardly ever build a whole tower in a single year. It takes normally at least five years (sometimes it’s double wide at ten years) for a proper tower to be completed. Any tower that takes longer is a ‘flux’ or a ‘yellow zone’. Any tower that is a connecting way or something else that requires less width is called ‘needle’. Both are not really common, but not so rare that it causes any sort of disturbance when they occur.

2Q: Is City natural to this planet? Where did city come from?
2A: That’s for me to know and you to probably never find out

3Q: What are spindle spiders?
3A: Well, its more complicated than just a quick explanation, but their sort of like small robots. They have eight tentacle like legs, small round bodies, and no distinguishing features of any kind. They are metal and their colors range from very light and silvery to completely black. The people believe reason for color discrepancy must depend upon when and where the spindle spider was created. City always uses the materials at hand, so spindle spiders will not always be made of the same metals.
To put it in over simplified terms, they’re city’s minions. They do everything for city and anything for city. They do not think, they have not ever been captured nor studied. They are city’s, and they are not to be interfered with.

4Q: Is this earth?
4A: No (but it is an M class planet - lol *nerd moment*)

5Q: Can I read the story?
5A: No.

6Q: Why?!
6A: Because I don’t like you.

7Q: Wha!? Really? *cries*
7A: NO, not really. The truth is, it’s still in the beginning stages of formation. Don’t expect anything in the way of a concrete storyline for quite sometime

Essential points:
CITY USES WHATEVER IT CAN
CITY RECYCLES EVERYTHING

Here's Why...

Sorry for being so damned absent... Life is... interesting.

The long and short of it is a friend recently came forward about having bulemia. I can honestly say it was no surprise, she'd had the makings of an eating disorder for a couple years, but it hurts nonetheless.
She's surrounded herself with foul mouth freaks from the depths of hell and she's convinced they're her actual friends and I want to tie them all down to chairs and beat them tube socks filled with stones until their bloody brains fall out.
I have never wanted anyone dead until the day I met the bastard who manipulates and leeches and sucks and fucking bitches away at her now and convinces her that he needs her. He is a waste of human flesh and I would send him to prison just so he could ripped apart and realize what real troubles are instead of his pathetic fantasy fears if I could, but I can't, so instead I rant to you and beat the keyboard with such an intensity I'm surprised I haven't gone right through it to burrow flaming holes in the bottom of my desk.

Yes. I've been absent, forgive me.

I have found one good thing in my life though: Indiefeed.
I've found a podcast that makes me want to cry it's so beautiful. The DJ's voice is like getting hit by a blunt object, but I can look past that because it gives me free slam poetry readings. Recently there was Beau Sia's ode to Allen Ginsberg entitled 'Howl' and it's so fantastic...
They have another poem by the poet 'Blair' called 'The Four Poets' that I literally listened to six times when I first got the feed on my Ipod. It's... stunning.

Yes... I am exhausted. Forgive me.
Much love to you all, I'm sorry I haven't been reading all your journals lately, I'll be slowly working that back into my routine as things go along, but I really just need to... not think right now. I think too much.
I'm such an idiot.
lol.

I'm so far behind in Nanowrimo it's rediculous. I should be doing that now instead of this. oh well ^^

yeah... I got to see A Mid-summer Night's Dream today, and even though it got me out of three fourths of the school day, it only really served to remind me how much I dislike shakespeare. Sorry Billy boy, I guess we just don't really see eye to eye on things.

ugh... I'm sick too... head cold... bah! I can't feel my feet either... It's very very cold... cold... brrrr... cooooold.

Oh, and all I can say about thanksgiving is; thank God it's over. Family is great, family is good, and family for four days straight is enough to drive you mad! *headdesk* thank God they're all gone!

...I'm so boring right now.

SILENCE MORTALS! I AM AS PEACHY AS A RAW CUCUMBER; HAVE YOU THE TIME? I'M PARCHED! SO STARE DEEP INTO MY WRIST BONES AND KNOW THAT DATA IS GOD.

...that is all.

Okay, so Barnes and Noble finally had a copy of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac in stock so I was like "w00t and a bucket of gizzards! Let's have me some Vasquez!" and I bought it (too expensive if you ask me, but I really wanted it...)

Now I just finished it (really a lot of dialogue for a graphic novel which devotes half of it's time to pointless slaughter) and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.

WTF?! Johnen (I still don't really know how to say that.) Vasquez is amazing, awful, pointless, and quasi-philisophical all at the same time in this comic thing...

The first half you don't get any real story, it's just a lot of murdering not-so-innocent people who act rather-innocent-but-aren't in unrelated sequences, and then you get 'the wall' and then you get some satanic dough-boys and an angelic 'nail bunny' and a girlfriend who knows kungfu and a lot of torture victims that Nny (his nick-name) may or may not want to actually kill, and then there's heaven, and then there's hell, and then there's this really nice coat that suddenly appears and suddenly disappears quite quickly. (I lament the loss of the coat).

It's a comment upon something; Goth sub-cultures at the very least and the current predicament we're in as a human race at the most...

I just don't know what to think. It made me laugh hysterically at times (although that may have been the filler device 'noodle boy'), and cringe away in the horror of the graphic exit wounds and such.

I dunno, I think you all should read it, but find a friend to borrow it from because it's bizarre... bizzarebizzarebizzarebizzaro. But what was I expecting from the creator of Inavder Zim? I've lost my marbles, I truly have. *sighs*

I'm going to go think some more now.

...

Someone called me 'tomato bitch' today from a moving car for no apparent reason. I couldn't decide if I should laugh or flick them off.
It was sad because I'd been immesurably happy a moment before.
The world is a very, very wierd place.
